iHOP has a strong media presence, especially on Twitter, with a following of nearly 300,000. They try to appeal to younger audiences by using slang terms like “lit” and “bae,” tweeting parodied lyrics related to pancakes and by connecting with other networks, like with the implementation of their pancake Snapchat filter. Their tweets get a lot of attention and seem to be lauded by millennial Twitter users. With jokes like this and relatively inexpensive prices, they are sure to attract younger crowds, but iHOP seems to forget about other generations. I suggest that they try to appeal to people of all ages. A Twitter user above the age of 30 may not know the definition of “lit” and this may affect whether or not he dines at iHOP.
